Whale Adventure with Nigel Marven
Description: Wildlife filmmaker Nigel Marven heads to the coastline in this programme as he tracks grey whales on their journey to their summer feeding grounds - a 5,000-mile journey that takes the whales up North America's Pacific coast, from Mexico to Alaska, in what is the longest mammal migration on Earth. The mother whale gives birth during the winter at the birthing lagoons of Baja California in Mexico, where the newborn spends the first few months of life, before the creatures begin their dangerous journey north to their summer home in the Alaskan Arctic. At the southern lagoon, Nigel speaks with the scientists who study the whales to learn more about them and during the whales' travels, he takes a parallel road trip on land, experiencing breathtaking scenery and meeting exotic animals along the way.
