The Thirties In Colour
Description: Often overshadowed by the winds of war sweeping through the Forties, the 1930s was still a pivotal decade, in Britain and around the world. Beginning on the heels of the 1929 Wall Street Crash and ending with the invasion of Poland, which launched one of the bloodiest wars in history, it was a time of unrest and change, captured here in colour by private citizens. BBC executive David Okuefuna (`The Great War in Colour,' `The Twenties in Colour') researched and produced the series, which features old colour film footage, much of which had never been televised before. And preparing that film for use took months, since old film is very fragile, and requires special handling. The result offers a powerful and poignant look at a pivotal period in world history.
