Description: Four modern confectioners explore what life was like for their Tudor counterparts. During the course of the series they will chart the how sugar changed Britain, and also how it was seen as a status and possible medicinal item by the wealthy and upper class, who kept it under lock and key.The Sweet Makers will also explore the negative side of the introduction of sugar to the Tudor lifestyle, including the impact on health and how it was inextricably linked to the growth of the slave trade. The quartet will also use original recipes to recreate dishes that haven't been made for centuries, as well as a banqueting house model made entirely of sugar.
