Rab C Nesbitt
Description: He's a brash, perpetually drunk Scotsman whose desires in life are remarkably uncomplicated: get sauced at the local pub in Govan, hang with the mates and be the voice, however unwelcome at times, of the common man. This longtime comedy, the brainchild of writer Ian Pattison, stars Gregor Fisher as the titular character, a career-defining role that Fisher, ironically, wanted no part of to start. Another series that perpetuates a Scottish stereotype, he thought, but much to his surprise his countrymen have celebrated Rab as a shambling antihero, despite the fact some viewers are often left baffled by his undiluted Glaswegian brogue. Noted for the way Rab regularly speaks directly into camera and the comedic way it's broached topics such as neo-Nazism, sexually transmitted disease and alcoholism, the series' later episodes saw Rab convert to Christianity and - surprise! - give up the bottle.
