Description: BBC works with London's Royal Opera House to bring the network's popular `Maestro' series to the opera in this part-part programme. `Maestro at the Opera' features four personalities who face one of the greatest challenges of their careers, grabbing batons to become apprentice conductors. The apprentice conductors, who each have an experienced conductor as a mentor, are actress Josie Lawrence, choreographer Craig Revel Horwood, professor Marcus du Sautoy and DJ Trevor Nelson. The contestant who impresses the most and wins the competition, as determined by the Royal Opera House's orchestra, earns the honour of conducting a complete act of an opera performed on the facility's main stage.
