De kleine waarheid
Description: Marleen Spaargaren is a middle-class girl in Amsterdam between the two World Wars. Her husband, furniture-maker Jan Engelmoer (John Leddy), cannot give her a child. Marleen asks doctor Bresser (Guus Verstraete Sr.) to keep this hidden from Jan. When later on a little one is born, Marleen naturally hides from her husband that the child must belong to sculptor Jos Boswinkel (Coen Flink), with whom she has a brief affair. When Jan dies, Marleen still feels guilty about her behaviour. But Dr Bresser tells her that Jan has always known. Meanwhile Marleen has also taken on the care of her younger brother Eppo (Hans Hoekman). Marleen Spaargaren is a middle-class girl in Amsterdam between the two World Wars.
