Border Land

Description: "Borderland" examines the dangers faced by immigrants attempting to enter the United States from Mexico by having six Americans retrace the footsteps of three who died while trying to cross the border. The sextet begins on the U.S. side, embedding with law enforcement and Arizona ranchers to learn about migrant routes. Then they split into three pairs and head to Mexico and Central America to learn about the people. They have been asked to use any means necessary, from rafts to a cargo train, to make their way back to the U.S. beside actual emigrants -- journeys that proved fatal to their assigned subjects. The six Americans retracing journeys are strangers from various walks of life -- a Senate aide, a farmer, a retired Marine, a street artist -- who have differing views about immigration.
